Xiaomi Releases Bilingual Image Editing Model FireRed 1.1
The new open-source model from Xiaomi's FireRedTeam leverages the Qwen-Image-Edit pipeline to offer instruction-based image editing in both English and Chinese.

Xiaomi's open-source AI division, FireRedTeam, has released FireRed Image Edit 1.1, a new model for instruction-based image editing. Published under a permissive Apache 2.0 license, the model is designed to modify images based on natural language commands in both English and Chinese.
Based on the Qwen Pipeline
The new model builds upon the Qwen-Image-Edit pipeline, a framework developed by Alibaba's Qwen team. This architecture uses a Large Vision Language Model (LVLM) to interpret user instructions and apply precise edits to an image, such as changing object colors, altering styles, or removing elements from a scene.
FireRed Image Edit 1.1 adds another capable tool to the growing ecosystem of open-source generative models. Its bilingual support makes it accessible to a broader global user base, and the commercial-friendly license encourages its adoption in various applications. The release, available from the team's Hugging Face repository, signals Xiaomi's continued investment in contributing to the open AI community.
